Since winning a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1991, Marc Cohn has experienced several life-changing events. He has endured the pain of divorce, struggled with writer’s block, married news anchor Elizabeth Vargas, and survived a gun shot to the head during a random carjacking attempt. While recovering from PSD, Cohn witnessed the destruction of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. That harrowing event inspired a burst of creativity in Cohn, as he documented the pain and turmoil of the region alongside his own personal story.
Out of all this, and all that came before, Marc Cohn’s latest album Join the Parade is a recording that is being called his most accomplished and compelling album to date. Cohn has translated some of his most complex and private emotions into lyrical song-poetry and then set those words to music of remarkable depth, toughness, and complexity.
Last at SOPAC for a sold-out performance in February 2008, Marc Cohn returns for an intimate evening of music and conversation.
